The term „Posaunenchor“ stands for a brass band which is part of a protastant church in Germany. Different brass instruments like trumpets, bugel horns, trombones, french horns, euphoniums and tubas are part of the band.
The Posaunenchor Dittersbach was founded in 1963. The little town of Dittersbach is situated at the city border of Dresden, the capital of Saxony, in the saxonian Switzerland. Almoste 50 musiscians in the age of 8 to 65 are members of the band. Every year around 20-30 performances take place in different churches of Dittersbach or as public concerts.
The brass band is proud of its history. For over 40 years, a friendship with the brass band of Melle-Neuenkirchen exists. Every year the band does international trips and workshops with professional brass teachers like Harmonic Brass or emBRASSment. Highlights in the recent years were concert-trips to Florida and China. The band recorded a CD for the 25th aniversary of the German Unification with brass pieces and personal memories about the reunification process reported by different band members. Digitalization of traditional music books is another project of the band. With help of the LEADER project of the European Union, the band uses IPads instead od traditional books. Together with the program MusicAtHome (MusikVOrOrt) four concerts in the region with different themes are supported.
